This week in our Fintech Roundup: As Europe was battered by storm Ciara coming in from the west - the increasing threat of the Corona virus spreading from the east led to the cancellation of the world’s largest mobile tech showcase - Mobile World Congress, hosted by GSMA annually in Barcelona. It’s been a bit of a difficult week for many around the world, not least for UK based N26 clients - which announced its departure from the market following increased regulatory pressure as a result of Brexit, and serial mega investor softbank had to face the music as it’s vision fund reported a 99% loss over 2019 - and Barclays CEO Jes Staley is being investigated for links with the late Financier Jeffrey Epstein. Now - turn that frown upside down, it wasn’t all bad as we saw big funding rounds continue to take off with Starling bank raising another 60 million pounds, and Fenergo raising an additional 80 million USD, putting it’s valuation at 800 million. In South East Asia, Grab announced it has acquired wealth-tech startup Bento and plans to offer wealth solutions to millions of new clients. Fintech remains on fire - make sure you stay in the loop on our Insights page!
